The Su Coccu is a traditional Sardinian amulet, handcrafted by artisans in Italian sterling silver filigree and set with polished obsidian. For centuries, it has been worn as a quiet talisman of protection against the evil eye and negative energy.
Rooted in ancient Sardinian folklore and Nuraghic spirituality, it represents balance between opposing forces. The contrast of the deep black stone and luminous silver symbolises harmony, strength and resilience. Overtime, Su Coccu became woven into everyday Italian life - passed from mother to daughter pinned to traditional dress, gifted to newborns and given to brides as a blessing for love and protection.
Like the Mediterranean evil eye and the hand of Fatima, the Su Coccu reflects a shared belief in protective symbols. But in Sardinia, Su Coccu holds a deeply personal meaning. Families would often 'charge' their amulets with sacred prayers, trusting them to absorb envy, illness or other negative energy. If one was broke or lost, it was believed to have done it's job - shielding it's wearer.
Every detail matters: the black stone to draw in the negativity, its soft spherical shape to reflect 'the good eye', the silver setting to catch the light and ward off shadows. Together, they create a piece that is both meaningful and beautiful.
